The right of passage

In some cultures, the right of passage into the "club" is circumcision or the barmitzvah, for others is the time they hunt their first deer or they're sent to a night in the wild, in which they make fire from rocks and hunt their own meal. Well, for us Latinas, our right of passage is when we get our "pantallas" or earrings. Cause we like to look good, even when are going out to the bodega to buy a diet coke...our "patallas" finish our outfit. Whether we wear gold loops, diamond studs or the latest fashion fad, we never leave the house without them. This past Thursday, Elizabeth got initiated into the "Latinas Club" and she is officially, one of us...she got her ears pierced. I called my friend Jennifer that morning, so that she would come with me, in case I needed the emotional support. Well, it ended up being, Aunt Jenny was the one that needed the emotional support. She was more nervous than Elizabeth, haha. Don't worry though, Elizabeth cried for two minutes and then she was fine...five minutes later, she was sleeping on Aunt Jenny's arms (as I wiped Jennifers tears) and didn't even know she had earrings. She looks super cute! Like a "big" girl, with her bling, LOL. Have a bless week everyone! Love ya lots!
